Holiday Plaid

November 27, 2017

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday with your loved ones! I spent mine skiing, catching up on this month's movie releases (translation: geeking out over Ragnarok), and learning how to prepare an entire Thanksgiving meal with gluten free and vegan ingredients (aside from the turkey, which I did not eat). A few days away from the computer screen was much needed and I'm so grateful that that time was spent with my family.

Admittedly, I'm a little late on the emerging plaid trend. Maybe my Catholic schoolgirl upbringing is to blame, but to me plaid just feels overdone and honestly a little kitschy. Nonetheless, the pattern has been popping up consistently on my Instagram and Pinterest feeds. So voilà: plaid à la Elizabeth. For this look I paired a grey plaid cigarette pant with a black bodysuit/sheer top combo. To keep with the classic - meets - edgy aesthetic I chose accessories in classic shapes with modern details. Tassel earrings and metallic finishes are having a huge moment this fall, so I incorporated those elements to tie my outfit together.
